I had the flight at 9.40 from Amsterdam, well it was 50 minutes delayed, but finally at about 11 I arrived in Birmingham.
The scary thing is, I have thought for months that I would arrive at 11, while on my boarding pass it said 10am. And in the end it was 11 anyway. When I told Burke, he wanted to know the winning numbers for the lottery haha
Burke picked me up and gave me a tour through Birmingham and dropped me of at the Ibis hotel after this tour. Perfect place, right next to the venue.
I took a shower and waited for Abbie, Lizz and Portia to arrive. We would meet up at 1, but got a text that they weren’t ready yet. In the meanwhile I got a text from Emma that they (The Emma’s) arrived, I had crisps for her and Jenni, so i went over to their room, was great to see them again. I got chocolate back from her, what a great deal 🙂 The Emma’s were getting ready, and I went back to my room to drop the chocolate off. and waited for Abbie, Lizz and Portia to get to Birmingham, Anyways at about 2 I told Abbie that I was going to wait at the venue for them, cos I nearly fell asleep while I waited in my room, on my bed watching tv.
I walked to the venue, and waited there for the 3 ladies, then Mike Skinner & Sasha walked by, They said hello, we kissed each other on the cheeks and they were heading for the gym, I wished them good luck and fun, Not for me, cos I am too lazy for that.
Then I got a text from Abbie, I was going to meet them at New Street station, Oh my, I hope I can still find it, I have been there once before and that was 1 ½ year ago. Withing 10 minutes walk I was there, then it still took them about 20 minutes to get there, i was way to quick. Felt really stupid waiting for them alone, all by myself, but when they were there we went to Nando’s for some food.
It was raining, not so good. We first wanted to go to the pub, but then we decided to go to my hotel to drop my coat off, and get ready for the gig. When we walked past the venue, Burke met up with us. And When everybody was ready to get to the venue we saw Ted, Ted took us to the venue to get people in. I was on the guest list, I got a +2, but I was all alone. Thanks Ted!!
We walked in right to the front, well, nearly….. but I sneaky squeezed myself between them and I was up front. Then I heard my name, That was Michael, he was at the balcony, We didn’t meet up after the gig tho. After a while Steph turned up, she made it in time, and found me.
Someone said that I looked like Tom Cruise, I hate Tom Cruise. I can’t stand him. That person said that it was a compliment, i couldnt see that.
Support act “brother” was shit. Where is “Engine earz” if you need them?
Time for the Streets
Great gig, i had loads of fun!! Filmed nearly everything! Weird atmosphere tho. I had a feeling that there could be a fight at any minute. And Mike got taken down during the crowd surf. He survived, but I think he was a little bit in shock.
Sasha said that I was brave being up front in Scotland, but here in Birmingham it felt worse for some reason. It felt really tense.
After the gig there wasn’t an actual Streets after show, but there was a party of the venue. We saw Shep & Jamie, Clare, Burkes brother & Ogle. We lost the boys! They didn’t come back in. Kevin, Sasha, Madge, & Cassell came to that party. The other boys had a quiet night after a big party on the night before. Madge told me that they were going to Australia at the end of the year!
Abbie, Portia & Lizz left early. At about 11.30 Steph, Burke, his brother and I said good night to Clare (She would drive me to the airport tomorrow morning) and went to my hotel to have a drink and wait for the taxi and lift. Steph, Burke and his brother got picked up and I went to bed.
At 6am my alarm went off. I got a lift from Clare‘s friend Katherine to the airport and got home at about noon. Clare promised me to drive me to the airport, but she couldn’t wake up. Burke said that if she or her friend didn’t show up, I could call him. Thanks so much Burke. That’s very nice of you.
I got home really early. Took a nap when I got home.
