The Streets Glasgow 2011

Glasgow, Scotland, 19 February 2011

I woke up at Callum‘s place at 6am, thought my head was going to explode.  I still had a headache. Still a migraine. 2 hours later when Laurence and Ozzy were awake, I finally felt better, probably because I had a shower and I knew I was going to get some food.

We said goodbye to Callum‘s girlfriend Chelsea, poor girl had to work, and we got dressed and ready to leave to the Haymarket train station, Callum was still asleep. We left him a note.

We wanted to take the bus, but it was raining, so we took a cab instead. it was waiting while we were on our way to the bus stop. We arrived pretty early, so we had scrambled eggs on toast first and then we got a train earlier.

We arrived in Glasgow at about 12.30. Our room in the Thistle hotel was ready so we could check in. Only Ozzy‘s bed was still missing. (It got placed later that day). We went to see what the swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room & sunbed looked like. We spend there a few hours. I felt a lot better. Finally my headache was gone.

We went to have a look at the venue at about 3pm.

We saw Kevin there. We met Rob Harvey. And Cassell was there as well. I gave Cassell and Kevin a hug, and wanted to give Rob a hand. He just stood there. After what felt a very long time he finally decided to shake my hand. Felt very awkward. I wasn’t a fan of him yet.

We went to get some lunch at Yates. I had a bowl of chips, Ozzy a hamburger and Laurence had a Hotdog. Time to go shopping for a a pair of trousers, I went to Primark, and found one that was just perfect. They were only 8 pounds. It was nothing. But Lizz told me that I had to tell her, I would get discount. Sweet, but it wouldn’t have been much discount anyway. Thanks tho!! Then we went to HMV, but didn’t see anything interesting. Time to go back to the hotel, to chill before it’s time for the gig.

At 6pm we went to the have a look for dinner, but we saw Shep & Jamie, and decided to skip dinner and have a few drinks instead. Poor guys were feeling rough from last night. Hope they survived the whole gig.

At about 7.15 Ozzy, Laurence and me went inside the venue. I got 4 passes for the 3 of us from them. I could have sold the 4th pass, but I couldn’t be arsed. We all had to go to the toilet. Ozzy and I were finished and waiting for Laurence, while a guy came over to us asking where the toilets are. I told him, my toilet is here. Not sure where yours is. So he asked Ozzy. That guy was confused and said, oh sorry I thought you were from the crew. Hahahahaha I wish! We were both wearing Streets merchandise,so I understand his confusion.

Soon Engine Earz, the support act started. They were so good. I just want to see The Streets. 🙂 Also Anna said hello, but we would meet up after the gig.

Time for the Streets at about 8.30. Great gig! great atmosphere! Amazing crowd. Mike is right, The Scottish are the best crowd for the streets.

Always remember when you throw beer, it’s the key to throw accurate!

During the gig, Ted gave us some wristbands. That was for after the gig. Mike asked about Shep… Who cares 🙂 I was there :p hahahaha Anyway, i didn’t know where he was. I heard later that Shep & Jamie were watching the gig from the balcony.

It was all a bit confusing, Ted, we, the security, everyone was confused. Anyways after about an hour we knew what was going on.

We met with Anna and Lisa, but we had to hurry.

We got sent to the Polar bar in the venue and we sat down, and Ted & Mike came over to us. And Tim, Kevin, Rob & Stuart. Tim said that Rob wanted Holland to win the World cup last year. So did we 😉

My bikini is now officially retired.

Mike told me I needed a Union jack dress now. “Like Ginger Spice” I said, “Yeah!”… Mike said…. Hmm, NO! I have to think about it. I have a flag, might just get creative with that. I showed Mike my iPhone. It has a blue skin with the yellow lighter on it. Mike said “Wow, that looks smart!”:)

What an amazing day.

After a couple of hours everybody was gone, to the main room. We found out, when we were about to leave. Said goodbye to Ted & Stuart then we left. Mike left already.

Another amazing Streets weekend. Scotland this time. Will see you next week in Birmingham.

The next day February 20th we went back home to Amsterdam.

Edited later: One was that he is playing on T in the Park, and Mike said “you should come”. I told him that, I would love to, but that I can’t afford it after I bought my own house in Amsterdam. Then he offered to pay my flight. How can I say no to this? Really looking forward to T in the park! Thank you so much Mike. I cried. OMG!!! I was so thankful. I felt a bit embarrassed for accepting, but OMG WOW!!

Also he told me that he had a 2nd baby coming up. I’m well excited for him and his wife Claire.

And he’s doing stuff with Rob Harvey, they are working on an album together. It’s for The D.O.T.
