Birmingham, England, 12 September 2009
We woke up at about 6.30am, cos we had to get the train to the airport at 7.30am. We checked in online. We arrived very early at the Brittania hotel, but no worries, we still needed breakfast, and the hotel was in the middle of a shopping street (New Street), so we had time to go shopping as well. Ozzy and I couldn’t check in before 2.30, but there was a room free for Laurence, so we dumped our stuff in her room. After breakfast and shopping we checked in, and got ready to go to the venue.
We were looking for a pub, but couldn’t find one, we went to a petrol station and bought a few drinks and joined the sun. We were sitting on a wall next to the venue. After a while I saw Rod and decided to say hello.
After a few minutes Magic and Chris came outside they said hello, so did Ted. Ted said, you always go to bed to early (talking about Kendal Calling). What? Not always! I’m hardcore (well I think I am anyway).
When we arrived at the venue we saw Ted, he gave Abbie and Lizz VIP passes. He said to me, you don’t need one, you’re on the guest list anyway, aww thanks so much Ted!! I asked if he could give our friend Laurence a pass as well, and as lovely as Ted is, he did. Then we joined the queue of Guests & VIP.
Mike and Ted walked by, Megan & Ellie screamed Mike‘s name. I did not wanted to be their friend at that point. Laurence, Ozzy and me looked at each other very annoyed and ashamed. Mike and Ted didn’t react to that anyway and walked on. Kevin walked by, when he saw us he said hello to me and Ozzy and left. The other girls were like what about us? haha. Sorry ladies! I thought you deserved a hug as well.
After about an hour the doors opened, they gave me a pass anyway. I liked having a pass tho, will look great in my photo album.
We were up front!! WOOHOO!! I didn’t have to work hard to make it to the front this time.
First the support act, not bad! not bad at all! I enjoyed it! but I was there for the Streets so hurry up!!
Mike came on and laughed when he saw me again in the crowd. Yeah it was my 8 gig this summer… It was very warm, and a lot of people pushing.
At one point I couldn’t breath anymore… but that didn’t last long. Also my arms are bruised. My ribs are sore. But Mike asked me if I wanted a drink…. yes please!! I nearly begged him for one, so he ordered Ted to give me one, so Ted came over and gave me and Ozzy a beer. Cheers!!
We had to go through a door and there was the after show. First it was Ted and Burke on stage. What was Burke doing there? Then Madge took it over. He was playing some Skinimix tunes! In the meanwhile, the Emma’s, Ozzy & I, Shep & Jamie went backstage, nothing to see, so Ozzy & I went back to Laurence. The Emma’s came back and told me that Burke told them to leave, euhm… Burke, what makes you do that? Who the fuck do you think you are?
The other boys came on as well.
I had such a good time!! I had so much fun!! Mike came on stage and got a few photo’s taken with fans. I got a new one as well. Mike‘s wife, Claire, was there, she helped a few fans with a photo as well. Lovely lady she is!
And more pics with the boys were taken while partying backstage
Ted didn’t want to be in a photo, that’s why he’s acting so weird in this one, but as lovely as he is, he did it anyway 😉
Ted changed his mind here (to get rid of me 😉 )
After a while Ted told us to follow him, we ended up outside. Guess the party was over. He went through a door where you needed an golden pass, All areas… Hmm, we didn’t have that we had a pink one, VIP…
When we were outside, I got Wayne‘s spare Golden Pass.
We got told by Cassell & Wayne that the boys are playing in Belgium next weekend. They said “see you next week in Belgium”. “Belgium? Are you coming to Belgium then? Why didn’t I know that?” Wayne asked me for my phone number, he would send me a text message with details.
Guess we’ve got new plans now, before we go to America. BELGIUM HERE WE COME!!!
The next day, we went back to Bloemendaal. As soon as I got home. I indeed got a text message from Wayne saying, where and when and the name of the festival.
